Shondra Cody's third grade class at Alpha Intermediate recently completed their study of life cycles and animal adaptations. 

Each student was given five yellow mealworms to study and observe over a six-week period.  Students completed KWL charts, did experiments to see how the mealworms reacted at different stages, learned about molting and metamorphosis, and created posters about mealworms.  Having their own "pet" mealworms and watching them go through the four stages (egg, larva, pupa, adult) brought science to life for the students.
